Ambode Takes Drastic Step After Sacking Chaplain For Allegedly Insulting His Wife

2 Min Read

The Lagos State governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, has directed the relocation of the 50th Anniversary thanksgiving service for the state and the second year anniversary of his administration from the Chapel of Christ the Light to the Banquet Hall of Lagos House, Alausa.

The directive comes hot on the heels of the state governor’s move to sack and evict the presiding chaplain of the Chapel of Christ the Light, Venerable Femi Taiwo over alleged disrespect to the Governor’s wife, Bolanle Ambode.

Report held that the Governor’s wife, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode had visited the chapel on Sunday, May 14, when the church held an anointing service which required church members to file out to receive anointing oil but regard was not paid to the governor’s wife who waited endlessly with her entourage.

The Governor’s wife was however reported to have moved to be anointed and later stormed out of the church with some women leader running after her to calm the visibly angry first lady.

The statement issued by the state Ministry of Information and Strategy stated: “A Special Thanksgiving Service, earlier scheduled for Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, will now be held at the Banquet Hall, Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja on Sunday, May 28, 2017.”

The event which was described by the state government as one “to cap the series of activities for Lagos at 50 celebrations, as well as glorify the Almighty God for the second year anniversary of Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration in Lagos State,” will be presided over by Pastor Mathew Ashimolowo with the theme “Pressing on to Greater Heights.”
