Following a resolution of the Lagos State House of Assembly on Thursday, the Governor of Lagos state, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, approved the immediate dissolution of the LGs/LCDAs Caretaker Committees.
Contained In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Tunji Bello, was a directive from the governor that the Executive Secretaries should hand over the reins of administration to the Head of Administration in each of the Council Areas.
This dissolution comes in preparation of the elections into the 57 Council Areas by the State Government and ensuring that everything necessary is put in place in time for the elections.
The Lagos State House of Assembly had earlier demanded the dismissal of the 57 Executive Secretaries of the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas of the state by Governor Ambode.
The governor is now free to appoint sole Administrators in their place. The condition being that the incoming sole Administrators cannot contest the coming Local Government election in the state.
