Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, met with President Muhammadu Buhari in a last ditch attempt to save his political career.
Ambode finds himself in a tricky situation in which he might serve as only a one-term governor following a rift with the former Governor of Lagos state and APC leader, Bola Tinubu.
Tinubu and other APC elders in Lagos have turned against Ambode and have already given their backing to Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
According to the Punch, the Lagos Governor went to Abuja to meet with the President to presumably make one last plea for his job.
So far, all efforts to settle the rift between Ambode and Tinubu hasn’t worked

According to the Punch’s report, the Governor walked into the Presidential Villa at about 2.45pm and went into a private meeting with Buhari.
While this could be seen as a storm in APC, Adams Oshiomhole, the Chairman of the APC doesn’t think so as he said in a meeting that the party is at peace in Lagos.
Speaking in a meeting with APC governors in Abuja, he said: “The best way to measure democracy is the presence of more than one person showing interest in an office.
“At every level, I have seen people claiming that in one or two offices there is no opposition. In other offices, we have more than one candidate expressing interest. I think our party in Lagos is at peace.”
