The President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has suffered yet another setback as report indicates that another nominee has rejected the president’s offer.
According to reports, the Chairman-designate of the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) Professor Akintunde Akinwande has rejected the president’s nomination bringing the total number of rejections to three.
Recall that the rejection spree was sparked off by Mrs. Pauline Tallen of Plateau state some days ago followed by Usman Bugaje of Katsina state.
ThisDay reports that indications of Akinwande’s decision came to the fore following his absence at the Senate Committee on Power’s screening yesterday.
According to reports, Akinwande shunned the invitation for screening and subsequently the nomination on the grounds that he was not consulted before the nomination was made.
Akinwande further failed to appear at the Department of State Services (DSS) for security screening.
A source said: “We also learnt that adequate consultation was not made before the man was nominated. We were therefore informed that the nominee may have turned down his nomination.”
