Mrs Judith Amaechi, Prof. Maurice Iwu with 76 others on Sunday bagged the Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria (CYON) award for their various contributions toward youth development in Nigeria.

The award was given to 78 awardees at the 2018 National Award ceremony at the Catholic Church Secretariat in Abuja.

Speaking at the occasion, Amaechi said that the award came as a surprise, that she didn’t know people were taking note of her contributions.

She said that youths should work hard and put God first in anything that they do stating that being a Christian is fundamental in every youth lives.

“If any youth want to make it in life, they should first of all, have faith, be prayerful, trust God but at the same time, you have to work very hard because faith without works is dead.

“So, I will encourage the youth to work hard to really prepare themselves when the opportunity presents itself in education or otherwise, they should take advantage of it, even if you are not disposed to the best education, you can go through training and entrepreneurship.”

“It is very important that every youth discover themselves, to really know what they want to do as they grow up, what they really want to become, no youth should be idle.”

Prof. Maurice Iwu, appreciated CYON for recognizing his contributions to the society at large stating that it’s an encouragement for him to do more.

He said that youths must be dedicated to hard work and stay away from being used as political thugs for a better tomorrow.

Speaking earlier, the National President of CYON, Mr Ogunlade Gabriel said that the generation of the young has always played a tremendous role in breaking and building the nation stating that youth should desire to change the world for the better.

He said that the Bible has examples of young people rising as leaders who build great nations, urging youth to work hard based on those examples and do what is right in their various community.

“Young Christian leaders should see it within their reach, their ability to impact society and make tremendous difference in their countries.” he said. (NAN)
