AMAC Chair Calls For Sustenance Of Council’s Institutions

Mr Abdullahi Candido, Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), has called on the incoming administration, management and staff of the council, to sustain institutions established during his tenure.

Candido made the appeal when Mrs Patience Olaloye, General Manager, AMAC Community Radio, led management and staff of the station on an advocacy visit to the chairman, on Friday in Abuja.

He said it was important for such institutions to outlive his tenure because they served as a means of support in income generation and development of the council.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the institutions include; AMAC Investment and Property Development Company, AMAC Marshall, AMAC Microfinance Bank, AMAC Community Radio and the ongoing building project of the jAMAC School for the Gifted.

On her part, Olaloye appreciated the chairman for his support to the progress of the radio station since its inception.

“We are going to do everything possible to ensure that the joy of the chairman is not short-lived.

“We are also making serious improvement in the radio station to enhance our transmission, and to pursue the vision and mission of the station.

“Our mission include to foster development and promote the culture of the people,” she said.

NAN reports that the event featured the presentation of an ‘Institutional Innovation’ award to Candido, in recognition of his efforts to the development of the area council.

In another development, Candido, called on Nigerians to support the Nigeria Police Force as it fights crime and other social vices in the country.

He made the call during the decoration ceremony of his orderly, Mr Usman Nasiru, from Sergeant to his new rank of Inspector by the Nigeria Police Force.

Candido, while commending the Inspector General of Police for ensuring adequate security in the FCT, added that AMAC would continue to support the force with useful information that would help rid Abuja of criminals.

In his remarks, ACP Nurudeen Saba, Area Commander, Metro-Maitama, urged the newly promoted Nasiru, to be professional and civil in the discharge of his duties.(NAN)
