AMAA to Honour Goodluck Jonathan, Elumelu, Oronto – Douglas, Others

Former President Goodluck Jonathan and Billionaire businessman, Tony Elumelu are among those that would be honoured by the organisers of the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) at Mandela Bay, Port Elizabeth, on Friday, September 25, 2015.

In an evening tagged a Night of Gratitude and Tributes, other honourees include  AMAA jury members and officials from the Bayelsa State Government. They will be honoured for supporting the Awards and the creative industry generally.

A posthumous award will also go to the late Oronto Douglas and Ghana’s Cofie Ammuako-Annan.

The jury members to be honoured include June Givanni, Asantewa Olatunji , Dorothee Wenner, Keith Shiri, Steve Ayorinde, Shaibu Husseini, Charles Burnett, Professor Hygnius Ekwuazi and Bernie Goldbatt.

On Saturday, September 26, during the awards proper,  film makers of African descent like Horace Ovi, Harry Belafonte, Melvine Van Pebbles and Tony Verne, will also be celebrated.

AMAA will also present special recognition awards to MNET Africa Magic Channels for its role in showcasing and investing in Africa’s creative industry through its African content channels in the last 10 years.
