The Coordinating Director of Oye Local Government, Mr Ayodeji Aluko on Thursday commended Gov. Kayode Fayemi for reviving the council.
Aluko who gave the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Oye-Ekiti, said that the governor had restored joy to the faces of staff of the council.
Aluko lamented that for the past four years, the local government did not witness neither physical nor infrastructure development.
The director explained that most of the facilities in the council were not maintained, saying that the council’s bus allocated to Oye market women was not functioning for months.
“I wish to thank the Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi for reviving our local government from collapse after taking it from the caretaker chairman.
“It is quite unfortunate that for the past four years, we did not witness any physical development in the local government.
“Since the inception of Dr Fayemi as governor of the state on Oct.16, 2018, he has repaired the council’s bus which has not been functioning for months.
“He paid the arrears of 2018 March salaries of the council’s staff on Jan.1, 2019 and gave priority to the development of the council.
“Presently, he has approved the 5 kilometers road project for our community and has equally approved that the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) programmes should take off in Oye Local Government.
“I am grateful to him for appointing me as the coordinating director to control the activities of the local government and I want to assure him that I will not disappoint him, ‘’ he said.
Aluko assured the governor that the council’s staff would support his four-point agenda meant to make Ekiti State a better place for his people to live. (NAN)
