Bayern Munich opened an eight point lead at the top of the Bundesliga table when they hammered 16th place, relegation-threatened Stuttgart 4-0 at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.
Dutch international winger Arjen Robben grabbed the team’s first in the 11th minute after connecting a beautifully crafted pass from Douglas Costa to slam into Przemyslaw Tyton’s goal.
The provider became the converter seven minutes later after Costa lashed onto a cross from Thomas Muller in the 18th minute to grab the second for the Bavarians.
In-form striker Robert Lewandowski took the game beyond the visitors when he buried a scrambled Muller pass into the back the net three minutes before Muller sealed the win in the 40th minute with a stylishly worked solo effort.
Second-place Borussia Dortmund will have a chance to narrow the gap at the top of the table to five points when they face Schalke 04 at the Signal Iduna Park on Sunday.
