#AllEyesOnTheJudiciary is a neutral slogan – Atedo Peterside

Atedo Peterside

Founder of Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc, Atedo Peterside has said that #AllEyesOnTheJudiciary is a harmless slogan that should not offend any right-thinking person.

Peterside, who also founded Anap Foundation, a non-profit organisation promoting Good Governance, stated this in a Friday post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Recall that the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) recently dissolved its Advertising Standards Panel and suspended the Director and Deputy Director of Regulations of the panel after billboards bearing the “All eyes on the judiciary”  surfaced in Abuja and a few other states.

Director General of ARCON, Olalekan Fadolapo said in a statement that the suspended officials failed to diligently exercise their gatekeeping function.

The adverts sprang up as Nigerians expect the judgement of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) with bated breath.

Reacting to the controversy generated by the slogan. Peterside said, “For the record, methinks #AllEyesOnTheJudiciary is a neutral slogan that should ordinarily not offend a right-thinking and sincere person in a civilised society,” he said.

“I can understand someone rejecting a negative slogan like let us turn our noses up at the judiciary’.

“Enough said.”
