Alleged Queen’s College Sex Offender Osifala Released From Police Custody

2 Min Read

Mr. Olaseni Osifala, the Biology teacher accused of molesting a Queen’s college girl has been released from police custody after more than 72 hours.

Osifala, who had been held at the Police Headquarters, Ikeja, since Tuesday afternoon, was allegedly released yesterday after a former Lagos State Deputy Governor intervened.

The politician got involved after being asked by the school authority to step in and help out.

The school is fully behind the teacher as comments from all those in authority were in support of the accused teacher.

The story has been a great cause of controversy as many have called for the head of the teacher while others supported the teacher.

Students, workers and residents demonstrated with placards in solidarity with the accused teacher, whom they claimed was a man of proven integrity. The school’s principal, Lami Amodu, also released a statement, vouching for the integrity of Olaseni.

In the statement, she said the allegation was an attempt to ridicule, not just Olaseni, but the hard-earned reputation of Queens College. Last Tuesday, Lagos Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, invited the Principal and the accused teacher for questioning.

Thereafter, Olaseni was detained, while the Minister of State for Education, Professor Anthony Anwukah, constituted a panel to investigate the allegations.

In a statement, Mr. Ben Bem Goong, Director of Press, Federal Ministry of Education, said the minister was worried over the allegation. The QCOGA have however founds grounds for guilt for Mr. Osifala and have recommended that criminal action be instituted against him.
