Alleged husband killer, Yewande Oyediran has on Wednesday been granted permission by the Oyo State High Court presided over by Justice Mukhtar Abimbola to appear for the trial proceedings in veil following her appearance in the trial case.
Yewande who was alleged to have stabbed her france-based businessman husband to death in Ibadan last month was allowed to veil her appearance on the grounds that it would give the suspect the freedom to show her face to only counsel and the trial judge.
The argument for and against the veil was triggered by a motion filed by the family of the deceased’s lawyer, Chief Aliyu who expressed that his clients in a note purportedly written by a member of the family doubted the true identity of the suspect.
Further in the filed motion, the counsel to the appellant, Chief Aliyu, expressed his clients’ demand that the masking material be removed during trial to ascertain the suspects identity.
Reacting to the filed motion, the Oyo State Director of Public Prosecutions,Mr. Tajudeen Abdulganiy, representing the suspect disagreed with the appellant’s counsel noting that the suspect was only responsible to the court and not the people at the gallery.
