The primary index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange continued its impressive upward surge as the All Share Index posted a gain of 0.35% against a gain of 1.29% recorded yesterday on the back of increased demand and sustained buy postures. The index moved further away from the 30,000 psychological line, gaining 106 basis points to close at 30,325.11 basis points today. Market Capitalization for the market at the close of trading today was N10.42 trillion.
Every indices for today were positive. The total number of deals recorded on the floor increased by 1.98% against an increase of 16.73% recorded yesterday. The total volume of shares traded on the floor increased by 134.9% compared to a reduction of 70.77% yesterday, while the total value of transactions recorded increased by 66.56% after dipping by 17.19% yesterday.
The top five most actively traded shares by volume on the exchange today were WEMABANK, ZENITHBANK, UBCAP, TRANSCOPR, and AFRINSURE with a combined total of 154 million shares traded.
Market breadth closed negative as FO led 25 Gainers against 16 Losers led by UNILEVER.
