Akon Finalizes Agreement For ‘Akon City’ In Senegal

Senegalese American Singer, songwriter and producer Aliaume Damala Badara Akon Thiam, popularly known as Akon, has announced the finalization of an agreement required for the construction of Akon city. a sustainable and futuristic city he’s building in Senegal.

The 46-year-old singer made the announcement via his social media accounts and shared a photo from the deal-finalizing moment.

Akon said: ‘Just finalized the agreement for AKON CITY in Senegal. Looking forward to hosting you there in the future.’

Akon can now fully institute his futuristic city estimated to cost around $2 billion with its economy running on his cryptocurrency, Akoin.

Akoin will be a system of cryptocurrency which according to him “allows the people to utilize it in ways where they can advance themselves and not allow government to do those things that are keeping them down” 

The city is set to be built on 2,000 acres of land which was gifted to Akon by the President of Senegal.

The city will be a first of its kind. Akon described the city as a “real-life Wakanda,”

Akon said on Nick Cannon’s radio show Power 106 Los Angeles, “It’s Akon City. It’s all renewable, the Akon-tainment solar city. A real physical place, it’s going to have a real airport.”

“It’s a 10-year building block so we’re doing it in stages. We started construction…and stage two is going to be 2025.”
