Former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi is alive, contrary to rumour presently circulating about his demise.
The Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was alleged to have died in a Lagos hospital due to COVID-19 on Thursday evening.
However, it has emerged that the 70-year-old is not dead as claimed.
Gboyega Akosile, Media aide to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State urged the public to ignore the “fake news” of Ajimobi’s death.
He tweeted:

Respected celebrity journalist, Dele Momodu also backed the governor’s aide.
Quoting an unnamed family source, Momodu wrote, “Ignore the fake news about former Governor AJIMOBI’s rumored death!!!”

In the same vein, controversial blogger, Kemi Olunloyo wrote, “I was inundated by messages that fmr Governor @AAAjimobi Ajimobi has DIED in Lagos! I could not get info from Oyo lawmakers, elites, media. I have finally confirmed and spoke to the family 9:15pm 6/18/20. He is ALIVE and talking recovering.”
She added, “A daughter told me: “God is not ready to take him Aunty Kemi. We decided to keep our dad’s health private. He has served Nigeria and will continue his goodwill.” The Ajimobi’s are my second cousins. The former governor has been recovering from #Covid19 related complications”.
