The Ondo State Deputy Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, will preside over the State Executive Council meeting scheduled to hold in the state today.
The governor returned to the state on Wednesday to conduct some official activities in preparation for the meeting slated to be held today.
Recall that the Ondo Assembly had met on Tuesday, disclosing that the deputy governor had been asked to tender an undated resignation letter as part of the moves to resolve the political crisis in the state.
This, however, came after the meeting President Bola Tinubu had with stakeholders in Abuja on Friday, where the Ondo State House of Assembly had pressed for the impeachment of Aiyedatiwa due to the sour relationship between the deputy governor and the governor.
Aiyedatiwa, who has been trying to survive the political battle in the state, including the attempt to uninstall him from the seat following an allegation of gross misconduct against him, has been acting governor while Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has been on a long medical vacation in Germany.
The crisis escalated with the return of Akeredolu in September this year, leading to the intervention of President Bola Tinubu.
However, a group known as the Concerned Elites of Ondo State, in a statement on Wednesday, accused the Speaker of twisting the resolutions reached in the meeting with Tinubu.
According to them, the speaker, Olamide Oladiji, deliberately twisted facts to suit a certain interest by asserting that there was no agreement to transfer power to Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa following the prolonged absence of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
The Deputy Governor, however, is not pleased with the arrangements.
