Miss Patience Owe, a female reporter with African Independent Television (AIT) covering the Bayelsa State Government House, has been shot by unidentified gunmen.
According to The Nation, the victim was shot at close range Friday evening while returning from the 2017 edition of the annual programme of the Winners Chapel popularly dubbed ‘Shiloh’. Her phone and other personal effects were taken away by her assailants.
The incident took place in the state capital, Yenagoa.
The journalist, who was shot in the back, lay in a pool of blood until she was rescued by a good Samaritan who took her to hospital.
The motive of the shooting remains unclear.
The Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed the incident, saying investigation was underway to apprehend the perpetrators.
