Aisha Buhari, First Lady of Nigeria has berated Daily Trust Journalist over a cartoon depicting her daughter Hanan and her husband.
The publication in its poli toon section showed the President’s wife flaunting pictures of the newly wedded couple to Nigerians who looked hungry and poverty-stricken.
This is coming after Hanan Buhari married her beau Turad Muhammad in a lavish ceremony in Abuja amid public outcry over fuel hike and increase in electricity tariffs.
Reacting to the cartoon, Aliyu Abdullahi, spokesman to the First Lady who spoke in an interview with BBC Pidgin slammed the artist for portraying his boss in a bad light.
He said: “The cartoon of Mustapha Bulama trending is very unfair because the wedding wasn’t in anyway insensitive to what Nigerians are going through.
“Infact, because of that, Mrs Aisha Buhari held a meeting with her staff and told us she wants the wedding to be low key with no massive celebrations.
“The photo she posted of the couple for social media was to thank well wishers and not to rub it on Nigerian faces.”
