Recently there had been reports that wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha Buhari was involved in fraud and that the US government had proof.
This seemed to validate the claims made by controversial Ekiti State governor Fayose that the First Lady had been involved in a scam years back and was wanted in the US and was also avoiding travelling there due to this.
The US government has now come out to debunk the claim saying that they have no evidence of any wrongdoing by the First Lady.
The information obtained exclusively by THE PUNCH was contained in an email from the acting Public Affairs Officer, US Consulate General, Lagos, Frank Sellin.
In the email, Sellin said in reaction to an inquiry as to whether Aisha Buhari was in fact wanted in the US “Thank you for the inquiry. We have no information to provide on this matter.”
