Air Peace passengers protest over flight rescheduling

2 Min Read

Some Air Peace passengers protested on Tuesday morning at the Abuja airport following the airline’s decision to reschedule their flight for over six hours without adequate notice.

In a notice to passengers 1:52 am today, Air Peace said that the flight P47131 from Abuja to Lagos which was scheduled to depart at 6:30 am was “re-accommodated” to Flight P47123 from Abuja to Lagos at 10:35 am.

The flight was moved twice again, first to 11:55 am and later to 13:45 pm today.

The airline blamed “unscheduled maintenance” for its decision, which apparently did not sit well with passengers.

The passengers protested at the Air Peace counter at the local wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, it was learnt.

A public policy expert, Dr Joe Abah, who booked the flight, narrated his experience on Twitter, and shared an apology text sent by the airline.

He wrote, “Needed to be in Lagos by 9am. Checked in online yesterday and had the driver sleep over in the house. Up at 4am to get ready for my 6:30am flight, only to see a 1:52am message that my flight had been “re-accommodated.” Too ashamed to tell anyone that I bought @flyairpeace again!

“I called their “Customer, We Don’t Care” line to tell them to get ready my cash refund when I get to the airport now. She said she wasn’t sure I could get an instant refund. I told her I am sure because the @flyairpeace COO (Chief Operating Officer) had told me I could always get an instant cash refund.”

He said he got his cash refund on the spot.

Air Peace has not reacted to the development.
