Ahmed Musa was in scintillating form for Russian club, CSKA Moscow in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday’s 3-2 win over Sparta Prague.
The Nigerian international scored a brace as the Army club powered past the Czechs to progress to the play-offs.
Musa’s first goal on 34 minute exemplified impressive upper body strength and consummate finishing.
Roman Eremenko won the ball in midfield and proceeded to feed Musa with a precise through ball.
The Nigerian winger still had it all to do though but calmly held off a Sparta defender before slotting past goalkeeper, David Bicík from the top of the box.
His second was all about deftness of touch and a slight touch of fortune as he found himself at the end of a slightly miscued Kirill Nababkin cross on the right.
He lobbed the ball past Bicík whose slight block failed to stop the ball from creeping into the net.
Musa’s compatriot, Kehinde Fatai (who scored in the reverse fixture) was Sparta’s best player on the night.
Fatai scored one and created the assist for Sparta’s other goal of the night but it was the Russian club that progressed to the next stage of the competition on a 5-4 aggregate.
