Ex-international, Dimeji Lawal, is confident that the Super Eagles of Nigeria will excel in South Africa 2013 Africa Cup of Nations next year.
The former national U-17 team winger said the team under the tutelage of the former Mali national team coach, Stephen Keshi, is still a team to beat in South Africa in spite of all that some critics have been saying.
“Irrespective of all that happened in the past, Nigeria Super Eagles are one of the most feared teams in Africa up till now. Since Keshi took over, we can all see what progress they have made in terms of performance and commitment.”
“I read it in Soccer Talk where your GMD Mumuni Alao stated that Eagles will command some respect in South Africa and that is the truth except for those that have not been following the team closely of recent.”
He further charged the team to strive and go beyond the barrier of third-place achievement which had been the team’s lot in recent past.
I think that should be their major ambition. To win it once again after so many years of close shave. Hopefully, these Eagles will give us some pleasant surprises at the end of the tournament next year,” he posited.
