Host nation, Equatorial Guinea, stunned Gabon 2-0 Sunday to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations where they will be joined by Congo, who beat Burkina Faso 2-1.
Congo finished top of the group with seven points, thanks to their victory over the 2013 Cup of Nations finalists.
Thievy Bifouma put Congo ahead after 52 minutes and although Aristide Bance levelled for Burkina Faso, with four minutes remaining, there was still time for a winner for Congo from Fabrice Ondama.
Equatorial Guinea, who only qualified for the tournament because original hosts, Morocco, were unable to host the event due to the ebola virus, shocked Gabon with a Javier Balboa penalty and a late goal from Edu to finish second in the group with five points.
The Africa Cup of Nations continues on Monday with the final round of matches in Group B when Zambia face Cape Verde and DR Congo take on Tunisia.
