Former Super Eagles player and currently the head of the Nigeria Football Federation Technical Study Group, Austin Jay Jay Okocha, has advised the Super Eagles to put aside regret over failure to qualify for AFCON 2015, but instead to “understand what went wrong and correct errors.”
“Those that qualified for the finals have earned it. Concerning Nigeria, it is useless to lament,” the former PSG and Fenerbahce star said.
He adds:
“Nigeria was favored to be among the 16 qualifiers, but this is not the case. We must try to understand what went wrong and correct errors, so that they do not re-occure, “
Okocha also predicted the winner of the 2014 CAF’s African Footballer of the year.
No, it’s not Ahmed Musa nor Vincent Enyeama.
Ivorian, Yaya Toure, is the person Okocha feels best deserves the title.
“Musa has his own qualities, but in my opinion, Yaya Toure is the best African player, he is on course to win the title logically,” said Okocha.
