Adekunle Gold Releases New Album, “Tequila Ever After”, Reveals His Success Story in Newsletter

2 Min Read

In his captivating newsletter, released alongside the much-awaited album “Tequilla Ever After” on Friday, July 28, 2023, the talented musician AG Baby shared an intimate glimpse into his journey to success, narrating his struggles and the people who played pivotal roles in his rise to stardom.

Adekunle Gold

He fondly recalled the early days when he and his best friend, Michael, embarked on a determined journey to make their mark in the music industry. They tirelessly promoted their music by walking from Maryland to Ikeja, distributing CDs in traffic, driven by an unwavering belief that their art had the power to resonate with the world.

AG Baby’s humble beginnings as a choir member at his church, Doers of the Word, were also an essential part of his story. Despite facing obstacles in his quest to lead the choir, he persevered and never lost sight of his musical aspirations. However, it was when his family moved from Ifako Ijaiye to Ikotun, and he met Michael, that the world began to take notice of his exceptional musical talent.

The dynamic duo’s shared passion for music brought them together, leading them to form the band “Another Root of Jesse.” While both had remarkable singing abilities, it was Adekunle Gold’s gift for songwriting and Michael’s talent as a producer that set them on the path to greatness.

Even after Michael secured a job at Dana airline, they didn’t let go of their dream. They pooled together 150,000 naira to shoot their first music video in 2010. Every hard-earned dime they made was invested back into their music, and their dedication to their craft led them to reside in a modest ‘boy’s quarter’ in Lekki in 2011, as they relentlessly pursued their musical aspirations.
