Pastor Adeboye Requests Governors, Lawmakers’ Salaries Reduced By Half

2 Min Read

Pastor Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Worldwide, has urged all governors in  Nigeria and Honourables of each State Houses of Assemblies to reduce their salary and emoluments by half.

The general overseer disclosed this during the special prayer and thanksgiving service for the New Year at the headquarters of the church in Ebutte-Meta, Lagos.

According to him, Nigeria can tackle the challenges it is currently facing with education, health and other sectors in the country if only it’ll reduce their salaries and divert the funds unto areas where needed.

Adeboye, who spoke through the Assistant General Overseer, Administration and Personnel, Pastor Johnson Odesola, stated that the regrettable method of prioritizing private gains over health, education and infrastructure shows that the country is lagging behind in development, unlike other civilized countries.

He went further to urge the federal government to prioritize important sectors like health, education and infrastructure by increasing budgets allocated to them.

Adeboye also made comments regarding the N30,000 minimum wage payment, expressing disappointment in state governors who have refused to implement the increase.

He said that while they refused to implement the minimum wage and pay salaries timely, it is regrettable to know that the public officers salaries and incentives have remained highly consistent.
