Adamu absent as Kyari leads APC NWC meeting

2 Min Read

The ‘resignation’ of National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, was all but confirmed on Monday as he was conspicuously absent at the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) meeting held in Abuja on Monday.

Deputy National Chairman (North) of the party, Abubakar Kyari led the meeting which was held at the party’s National Secretariat in Wuse 2, Abuja, it was learnt.

Adamu’s purported resignation has been a subject of controversy since it reportedly occurred on Sunday evening.

He was said to have resigned after a prolonged cold war with President Bola Tinubu, and on the advice of Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Hope Uzodimma.

Adamu’s relationship with the president was said to have broken down irrevocably following his failure to account for the N32 billion raised by the party from the sale of forms for the 2023 general election.

It was learnt that the NWC meeting was attended by Deputy National Chairman (South), Emma Enukwu; Vice-Chairman South-West, Isaac Kekemeke; Vice-Chairman North-West, Salihu Lukman; and Deputy National Legal Secretary, Festus Fuanter; among others.

The party’s National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore was said to have arrived at the venue shortly after the meeting commenced but was prevented from joining in and he left shortly after.
