Adamawa Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Waziri Haruna, said the state government has concluded arrangements to import farm equipment as part of measures to boost mechanised agriculture in the state.
Haruna made this known on Thursday in Yola while addressing participants at Stakeholders Workshop on Adamawa Agricultural Draft Policy Document.
Haruna said discussions were also on with organisations that would help the state to develop it value chain programmes.
He said further that government had also taken steps to help farmers key into the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Anchor Borrowers project to enable them have access to more fund for sustainable agricultural growth and development in the state.
“Currently, Government has concluded arrangement to import farm equipment.
“Furthermore, discussions are ongoing with some organisations that will help with value chain addition through enhancing production and processing.
“The state Government has taken steps to enable our farmers to key into the Anchor Borrowers programme of the CBN,” Haruna said.
He said that stakeholders at the workshop were expected to review, critique and improve the blue print document expected to take Adamawa Agriculture to the next level.
Participants at the workshop were drawn from public and private sectors. (NAN)
