Actress Juliana Olayode, widely known for her role as Toyosi in Funke Akindele’s popular sitcom ‘Jenifa’s Diary’, recently took to her Instagram page to publicly apologize to her senior colleague, Funke Akindele. In a heartfelt and lengthy post, Olayode expressed her deep regret and acknowledged the burden she felt, prompting her to offer this open apology.
Reflecting on her journey to fame, Olayode recognized Akindele’s instrumental role in propelling her into the limelight. She admitted that at a young age, fresh out of secondary school, she was unprepared for the immense fame she gained through her portrayal of Toyosi. The lack of industry knowledge and her reliance on a guardian who was unfamiliar with the workings of the entertainment industry contributed to the challenges she faced.
Olayode revealed that her guardian had sent an email to Scene One TV, the producers of ‘Jenifa’s Diary,’ without her knowledge or understanding of its contents. She acknowledged that the consequences of her mistakes and misjudgments at the beginning of her career are too extensive to be fully explained in words.
In her heartfelt plea for forgiveness, Olayode directly addressed Akindele, affectionately referring to her as Aunty Funke. She admitted that she deeply hurt Akindele and acknowledged the impact of the email sent on their relationship. Olayode asked for forgiveness for her immaturity and childish mistakes, expressing her sincere remorse for everything that transpired.
