Nigerian actress Jemima Osunde has publicly apologized for mocking a church member’s graduation testimony at Dunamis International Gospel Centre.
The controversy began when a church member, Ms. Vera, gave a testimony claiming to have received a Bachelor of Science in Law (LLB) degree from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). Pastor Paul Eneche, the church’s leader, questioned the validity of the degree, implying it might be fake.
Osunde, like many others, initially found the situation humorous. She took to social media to express her amusement, believing Vera’s testimony to be inaccurate. However, upon discovering that Vera was a legitimate graduate, Osunde issued a sincere apology.
“I laughed at it last night cause I thought it was true. I found it funny cause a real case of that would’ve been funny to me. I’ve seen today that she did actually graduate and I’ve deleted the tweets I laughed about it,” Osunde wrote.
“Congratulations Ms Vera and I’m sorry for believing you were lying and laughing about it,” she added, expressing remorse for her misjudgment.
Vera, the church member at the center of the controversy, reportedly graduated with an LLB from NOUN and attended the convocation ceremony last Saturday.
Apparently the lady accused of giving a fake testimony by Dunamis actually graduated from NOUN. Here is her name on the graduation list number 2262. I guess she probably had stage fright. The church should find a way to apologize to her for this embarrassment pic.twitter.com/JEA51iI6p0
