Actors Guild of Nigeria Lifts Suspension on Adanma Luke, Allows Riverine Filming

1 Min Read

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has lifted the suspension on actress and producer Adanma Luke, four months after the tragic death of actor Junior Pope and four crew members during the filming of ‘The Other Side of Life’ in April 2024.

The suspension was initially imposed due to Luke’s alleged breach of safety protocols, which led to the capsizing of the boat carrying the cast and crew on the River Niger in Asaba, Delta state.

In a statement, AGN National Secretary Abubakar Yakubu announced the lifting of the suspension, citing the National President’s decision to permit riverine filming while emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety standards outlined in the AGN Bylaws.

“The National President of the Guild, Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, MON, uses this opportunity to announce the lifting of the suspension placed on Adanma Luke, producer of the movie ‘Another Side of Life,’ where star actor Junior Pope and four other crew members lost their lives in Anam river,” Yakubu said.

“Also, the President lifted the ban on filming in riverine areas but cautioned members to apply all safety standards recommended in the AGN Bylaws.”
