The Acting Inspector General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, has reversed some last-minute postings and redeployments done by his immediate predecessor, Ibrahim Idris, who retired from the Nigeria Police Force on Tuesday.
Adamu, who was decorated with his new rank by President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House on Tuesday, purportedly rescinded Idris’s decisions shortly after leaving the Presidential Villa.
Recall that The Herald reported that newly-appointed Acting Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Kayode Egbetokun could not take office on Tuesday after the substantive Commissioner, Edgal Imohimi received signal from the Force Headquarters in Abuja to maintain status quo.
According to reports, the last-minute order of postings and redeployments could not be obeyed unless sanctioned by the new IG.
After his appointment by the President, Adamu was said to have visited several offices in the Force Headquarters to familiarise himself with his men.
