Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, the Executive Governor of Abia State, has lost his 87-year-old mother, Mrs. Bessie Ikpeazu (nee Nwagwu).
In a statement though his Chief Press Secretary, Godwin Adindum, the governor said she died last Sunday, after a brief illness, at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Enugu.
Mrs Ikpeazu, who is survived by three children including the governor, was a career nurse and midwife.
Her nursing and midwifery career saw her working extensively in hospitals across the South East and South South geo-political zones, especially in Rivers and Abia states.
