The abductors of Mr Hosea Danjuma, a retired officer of the State Security Service (SSS), in Taraba, has demanded N10 million ransom from his family.
Mr Steven Agya, the Caretaker Chairman of Kurmi local government council, confirmed the development in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Jalingo.
He said that the kidnappers called the family on phone and initially demanded N50 million ransom but later reduced the amount to N10 million.
He said that the council had mobilised youths in the area to join hands with security agents to search for Danjuma.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalled that Danjuma was kidnapped around 1.47 a.m. on Tuesday by unknown gunmen at his residence in Baisa area.
A family member, Miss Adama Danjuma, told NAN that the gunmen gained entrance into his compound by destroying the back gate.
NAN reports that Danjuma’s abduction occurred two weeks after the mother of the state deputy governor, Hajiya Beli Manu, was kidnapped for several hours before she was released. (NAN)
