Abaribe: “If I was non-ideological, I would go to APC”

Abaribe

Former Senate Minority Leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe says he would have decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC) if he did not subscribe to any ideology.

Abaribe, who recently quit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), joined the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).

He also resigned as the Minority Leader.

His resignation letter was read by the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, during plenary on Wednesday, June 15.

In an appearance on AriseTV, the lawmaker explained that he could have joined the ruling APC but opted for APGA because of the party’s ideology.

“If I was non-ideological, I would go to APC.

“If you have the major ideology, it will now be the conservative APC and the progressives non-APC.

“I’m still in the non-APC, so I’m ideologically-inclined that I will not be part of the hegemony,” Abaribe said.

Meanwhile, Abaribe said he has not changed his mind on earlier assertions that President Muhammadu Buhari, who is a Northerner, has not been fair to other parts of the country.

“The APC government-led by President Muhammadu Buhari was not fair. He was totally unfair to the people, who are not from what he claims is his own place.

“At the time I was saying that, I was talking for the rest of Nigeria and I will continue to advocate for Nigeria,” he said.
