Host, Equatorial Guinea, has been fined by the Confederation of African Football for its handling of the security issues during the quarter final game between its team and Tunisia in Bata last Saturday.
In a release circulated to African media on Tuesday, CAF ruled thus:
“Considering the pitch invasion by some Equatorial Guinean fans and the lack of security measures observed, and based on Article 151 para 2 of the CAF Disciplinary Code, the Disciplinary Jury of CAF imposed a financial penalty of US$5,000 (Five Thousand US Dollars) on FEGUIFUT”.
The release went on to state that Equatorial Guinea had been asked to ensure that all security arrangements were taken to ensure the smooth running of the matches of the semifinals and final of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations in 2015.
