Nigeria’s duo of Brown Ideye and Victor Anichebe were featured as West Bromwich Albion pipped Hull City by alone goal at The Hawthorns on Saturday.
WBA manager, Tony Pulis, handed Ideye a starting shirt but the Nigerian striker was lacklustre in front of goal before his compatriot, Victor Anichebe, came off the bench to replace him in the 73rd minute of the tie.
Meanwhile, Saido Berahino’s late strike has given Pulis the victory over Hull City in his first league game in charge of the Baggies.
The game seemed to be drifting towards a scoreless draw until Berahino rifled home a 78th-minute indirect free kick after Allan McGregor had handled Ahmed Elmohamady’s back pass.
Neither side were able to create any chances for the majority of a scrappy second half, with both goalkeepers acting as mere onlookers.
