Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has reportedly made West Brom striker Brown Ideye one of his major transfer targets during the January transfer window.
According to the British newspaper Daily Star, Sunderland are to table a bid of £6m for the Nigeria international, who has struggled to establish himself at struggling West Bromwich Albion since he made a record move £10m from Dynamo Kiev last summer.
Poyet first wanted the 26-year-old Nigeria star in the summer, but he was beaten to him by West Brom.
Ideye has played for Bayelsa United, Ocean Boys (both in Nigeria), Neuchâtel Xamax (Switzerland) and Sochaux (France).
