Babangida Aliyu, Niger State Governor has said that Independent National Electoral Commission in a bid to deliberately disenfranchise some voters and favour a certain political party had mismanaged the collection of Permanent Voters Cards in the state.
The governor while addressing members of the Niger State House of Assembly during the presentation of the state’s 2015 budget said “As I speak to you, myself, former military president, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar have not collected our voter cards.”
He also added that in the collection centres, it was either the machines didn’t function well or the INEC officials neglect their duties.
The governor advised INEC to consider allowing people who didn’t get PVCs to use their temporary voter card to vote so that no one would claim he or she was disenfranchised.
