Real Madrid extended their Spanish record for consecutive victories in all competitions to 20 on Friday after beating Almeria 4 – 1 at Juegos Mediterráneos.
There was pressure from Almeria having named Juan Ignacio Martinez as their new coach, but they were only able to hold Real Madrid off for the first 34 minutes before Isco found the net with a curling effort.
Isco’s goal was equalized five minutes later with a half volley from García Rabasco, but Gareth Bale made sure Real held on to victory before half time by driving home a Toni Kroos’ cross.
Real’s Iker Casillas kept Madrid in front with a clean penalty save to deny Verza a second goal.
Up until the 81st minute, Christiano Ronaldo had had a poor contribution; he scored his first and added another within 10 minutes sealing the victory for the Los Blancos.
Real are now five points ahead of Barcelona, who are one game less as they prepare to go to Morocco for the Club
World Cup.
