Veteran Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho has said that he isn’t bothered about breaking records but focused on winning titles for Chelsea.
The Blues took on Newcastle on Saturday after tromping over Tottenham in a mid-week clash.
With 6 points ahead of Manchester United who are gradually closing up, Chelsea was looking forward to claiming all three points from Newcastle and also extending their unbeaten run in all competitions to 24 matches.
However, the Blues boss described the record as mere incentive, making it clear his ultimate aim is to bring back the trophy to Stamford Bridge.
“They don’t know the record and if you don’t tell me 20 times I wouldn’t know. I don’t care about records,” Mourinho said.
“The record I want is to win the Premier League three times at this club, that’s all I want.
“I’m not looking for records, I’m looking for points, victories and points, and if possible at the end of the season, titles.
“The only thing that matters for me in the Premier League is that I’ve won the title twice.”
Newcastle have lost at home once this season to Manchester City in the opening weekend. They were also defeated in their last two games.
