Chelsea’s win against Tottenham on Wednesday upped their hope as possible winners of the European Premier League.
Having lost 2 points in their last time out with Sunderland, the 3 – 0 win over Spurs summed up to 6 points lead over 2nd place Manchester City.
Chelsea’s win at Stamford Bridge was inspired by Eden Hazard who scored his 7th for the season and Didier Drogba who replaced star player Diego Costa who was on a one-game suspension.
Loic Remy who completed the win with a 12 yards finish believes Chelsea are clear favorites to win the Premier League title because of their strength together as a team.
“We know the quality of Diego – he can score and is a really good striker. We like the way he’s playing. But this was a real opportunity for Didier and for me, to show we can win without Diego,” said the Frenchman.
“We need everybody. The squad is really strong and that makes the difference between us and the other teams.
“We will keep going to try and keep the distance from our closest opponent. It’s six points and that’s really good. We try to continue in this way.”
Diego Costa is likely to make a come-back for the Blues against Newcastle, but Remi says he will embrace a clash with his former club if Mourinho includes him in his line-up.
“For me it’s important I took my chance,” he said. “Mourinho can count on me any time he wants. I want to play – that is why I work hard during training sessions.
“We have good strikers and the others are very professional. But every time the manager wants to use me, I try to do my best.”
