Daniel Sturridge says he is determined to return stronger than ever from his injury troubles.
The Liverpool striker has been ruled out since September and is set to remain sidelined until next year after being diagnosed with a new thigh injury.
Twice in recent weeks he has been pencilled on for a return to action only to suffer a setback in training. He has missed some crucial games for Liverpool-including the Champions League matches against Real Madrid.
But the England international is trying to remain optimistic and on Monday night he tweeted: “Through all this I’m growing as a man and as an athlete.
“Everybody goes through things in their life that can make or break them. This for me is just another hurdle to jump over. Another door to break down. I will be back soon enough strong and ready to play. Thanks to everyone for your support.”
Sturridge formed a potent partnership with Luis Suarez last season, scoring 25 goals as Brendan Rodgers’s side came close to winning the League title. But his setbacks this season have been mirrored by his club, who have taken eight points from their last nine games.
However summer signing Adam Lallana says the club must hold on to their sense of unity despite the manner of their defeat at Palace.
Lallana told Liverpoolfc.com : “ it was disappointing, especially after going in front early. It was a great platform for us to push on and control the game.
“ But we didn’t do that- we take full responsibility for that. We need to stick together. It’s as simple as that. When you’re having a tough time as a team, you all need to stay together- you can’t start becoming individuals.”
