Manchester City could be without Fernandinho for their upcoming league tie with Tottenham after the midfielder was reportedly ruled out for two weeks with a hamstring problem.
The Brazilian international limped off City’s 2-0 win at Aston Villa and according to Mark Ogden of the Daily Telegraph, he underwent scans on Monday to reveal the extent of his injury. Subsequently, the 29-year-old has been withdrawn from the Brazil international squad and looks set for two weeks on the sidelines.
According to Ogden’s piece, the player has a 50-50 chance of making it back on time for the Spurs clash. His knock might see him rested from domestic action to ensure he is fit and fresh for City’s game against CSKA Moscow.
Fernandinho has been key for City this season, his industry in the middle of the park will be sorely missed especially with Yaya Toure struggling for form.
Pellegrini does have ample reinforcements with the likes of Fernando and Frank Lampard as possible replacements.
