Outspoken QPR midfielder Joey Barton has branded Mario Balotelli ‘the biggest myth in world football’ after the striker’s performance in yesterday’s Capital one Cup match.
He replaced Ricki Lambert in the second but failed to make an impression before scoring a pair of goals the Liverpool’s 14-13 victory.
Barton took to twitter to comment on the game and criticised the 24-year-old Italian although he conceded that Balotelli can do no wrong on the penalty spot.
Barton tweeted ‘Balotelli? He is the biggest myth in World football the fella. Fair play to him he’s had everyones trolleys down…
‘People now realising just how good Luis Suarez was. I mean how do you replace that quality? Certainly not with MB. He does take a mean peno!’
There is no love lost between the two who clashed on the final day of the 2011-12 season. Balotelli was the victor that day as he won the game as well as the league that day. Barton, on the other hand, was sent off and his club got relegated.
I guess old wounds never heal.
