Cesc Fabregas has insisted that he still wants to be friends with Arsene Wenger, despite not talking to him since his return to English football.
The Spaniard joined Arsenal’s title rivals Chelsea in the summer after being told to leave Barcelona, but Fabregas knew it would be a challenging move.
Wenger is yet to make any attempts to speak with his former captain.
He told the Sun : “No, he hasn’t spoken to me since I came back.
“And it was the kind of relationship I always would have liked to keep.
“But I’m sure once everything dies down a bit in the future we will talk. There is no problem. I’ll always be grateful to him whatever happens.”
The midfielder also revealed that he used to receive text messages from Wenger on his birthday or at milestone career moments, but they have suddenly stopped.
Arsenal were alerted about Fabregas’ availability and had first option to buy him but Wenger felt he had enough attacking options in his current squad.
Earlier in the summer, Arsenal removed their tribute banner to Fabregas on Ken Friar Bridge after it blew down in winds and they decided not to replace it.
Fabregas has been an instant hit at Chelsea since his move to London, scoring his first goal against Schalke on Wednesday.
