Prominent elder statesman and First Republic politician, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, has praised President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its economic policies, which he believes are bringing relief to Nigerians.
Speaking to journalists in Kano on Sunday, Yakasai noted that the prices of essential commodities, including foodstuffs and fuel, have begun to decline, making life more bearable for the average citizen.
He highlighted the reduction in fuel prices, with some stations selling petrol for as low as N850 per liter, compared to the previous price of N1,150. Yakasai also commended the administration’s efforts to make basic foodstuffs, such as rice, beans, maize, and sorghum, more affordable for families.
The elder statesman urged northerners and Nigerians at large to continue supporting the Tinubu administration, emphasizing that the government’s policies are inclusive and aimed at national development.
Yakasai also called on Nigerians and the political class to engage in constructive criticism rather than unnecessary opposition, stressing that democracy thrives on positive contributions and informed criticisms.
