Veteran Nigerian singer and rapper, Eldee The Don, has claimed that his father was instrumental in bringing internet connectivity to Nigeria.
Speaking on the Adesope Live show, Eldee revealed that his father pioneered the establishment of internet services in the country, setting up the first cyber cafe in Lagos. He added that his dad also provided internet services to oil companies, banks, and government agencies.
“That man [my dad] was the first person to connect Nigeria to the internet,” Eldee said. “People argue about this because they don’t know his name. He wasn’t the type to put himself in the spotlight.”
He explained that his father’s innovation gave him early access to technology, which proved advantageous in his music career. “At that time, we had access to technology that wasn’t readily available. I even had a studio in our house where I produced music,” Eldee noted.
