X User Accuses Uber Of Platforming Illegals, Putting Customers In Potential Danger

4 Min Read

A resident of the United Kingdom, has alleged logistics behemoth, Uber is putting its customers based in the United Kingdom in danger, citing a practice where he app is being rented out to third parties who are “illegal immigrants” or “asylum seekers” on Facebook Marketplace. Her comments on the issue drew a lot of strong reactions, with one X user replying that the whistleblower should be shot.

The complainant, a woman who goes by carbidem on social networking site, X, posted on the app “Idc if this makes me a Karen, if your UberEats profile picture shows that you’re a woman and my delivery person shows up and they’re a cis man then I will report every time and so should you!!!

She added “I cannot get over the fact that this has been a thing for so long. It is such a huge safety issue!!! There is a very separate and valid conversation around how asylum seekers can find work and make money whilst waiting to be processed. I don’t think women’s safety should be compromised in the meantime.

There is a big difference between your partner helping you with deliveries and then renting your UberEats account on FB Marketplace to strangers with no background checks for money which is happening in the UK!!!”

Another X user, in response to her earlier post stated that the deliveries are no contact and thus harmless. He said, “It’s no contact delivery, where’s the danger when you never have to meet the driver face to face?”

To which the original poster replied, “It’s not no contact delivery. Delivery drivers know the address of people. When people rent out their accounts to others there is no way of tracking who these people are if a crime is committed, and yes women have had issues with ubereats drivers before”

Another X user chimed in about how these incidents with Uber deliveries affected her children’s food delivery during a sleepover and made her feel unsafe.

She said, “My 13yo daughter’s friend ordered Dairy Queen to my house at 11pm during a sleepover. Putting aside the fact that child has no manners or sense, they argued that I didn’t have to wait at the door, pissed off in my robe, because the driver was a girl named Brianna.
Well “Brianna” rolled up to my driveway and was a dude with a full beard and chains.

“I’ll be a Karen all day I’m not entertaining nonsense when it comes to my HOME.

“What does race have anything to do with it? If I’m interacting with the account of a person that uber assures me is safe and has been vetted and then an entirely different person shows up at my door, I have the right to question it. It would be extremely fucking weird if an Amazon employee did the same thing and rented out their route to some random person.
I also wouldn’t get into a vehicle driven by an uber driver that didn’t match the name and description on the app. Is that racist and classist too or is that ok?”

Today release of data from the Ministry of Justice, revealed immigrants who avoided deportation committed 10,000 crimes in one year. These crimes include rape, robbery, assault and tragically murder.
