Nigerian artiste Skales has taken to social media to express his frustration with the Nigerian police, criticizing the excessive number of checkpoints on the roads, particularly on Orchid Road. He accused the police of profiling luxury car drivers and intentionally targeting them to beg for money.
Skales shared his experience, stating that the police mount checkpoints shamelessly, stressing youths to the point of begging for money. He questioned the legality of having multiple checkpoints within a short distance, emphasizing that the police ask silly questions and resort to insults or begging when they don’t get what they want.
The singer’s outburst comes as the House of Representatives has asked the Inspector-General of Police to remove illegal checkpoints on Nigerian roads, citing harassment and extortion of citizens, including traditional rulers.
